Restaurant- Group Project
The design for Discover: Bogota draws inspiration from what we have determined to be some of the unique main elements of Colombian society: gold, emeralds, coffee and the “Legend of El Dorado.” Focusing on the sparkling golds and greens and warm browns that characterize these items defines the color scheme for the restaurant. The concept for the atmosphere of the restaurant seeks to recreate the European’s search for gold as told in the “Legend of El Dorado.” Many booths and various seating arrangements make up the perimeter and main floor of the restaurant. The concept for this main section of the restaurant is to mimic the feel of the Europeans journey through the rainforest/jungle on the hunt for treasure. A more subdued atmosphere will be created in this section through dimmed lighting, darker finishes, green hues, and lush details accomplishing the jungle vibe. The bar area, located in the center of the restaurant, will be the focal point of the space and stand out like the legendary lake of gold, with its raised platform and luxurious atmosphere. Rich gold finishes and textures, warm lighting, and plenty of sparkle characterize this area. The contrast created between these two different spaces expresses the play of shadow and light that complements our theme of discovery and exploration. Materials will be chosen for their ability to create a sense of luxury and for their appropriate application in the space. Discover: Bogota will be characterized by the unique and luxurious experience customers will have in the space as created by the atmosphere, finishes and lighting as well the rich representation of the history and culture of the city.
